I am a freelance theatre performer who specialises in interpreting and preserving archaeology, heritage and history through performance. I have an MA in Archaeological Practice from Birkbeck, University of London and I received the award of Doctorate in the School of Art, Design & Performance from the University of Portsmouth. For my PhD practice-research, I devised and performed a one-woman show, "Still Life 'Movy'" based on the significant history and archaeology of WW1 submarine chaser 'Movy' Motor Launch [ML]286. I have performed my show in the archaeological remains of ML286; at the University of Portsmouth; Southampton City Art Gallery; the 2023 and 2024 Ventnor Free Fringe; and at Boathouse 4, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Additionally, I was Honorary Artisitc Associate at the archaeological site of the 1587 Rose Playhouse on Bankside in London from 2001 to 2016 and performed in numerous Shakespeare and modern plays. I am also the co-producer of a short documentary film (2017) about the Rose Playhouse, "Shakespeare's Secret Playhouse" which stars Sir Ian McKellen. I am a sea shanty singer and was a member of The London Sea Shanty Collective from 2019 to 2022. I also worked as an Exhibition Guide at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre from 1997 to 2005 whereby I enthusiastically engaged with the public about Shakespeare and the reconstructed (and original) Globe Theatres.
